The story of Júlia Villa
The original building was built in 1882 by Count Lipót Edelsheim-Gyulai (1863-1928), a member of the main monastery and a painter. The count participated in the work of the Budapest Szünidei Children's Settlement Association, the Fehér Kreszt Lelencház Association and the National Children's Protection League. He was active in philanthropic movements throughout his life. During World War I, he was one of the leaders of the Red Cross Association.
The second owner of the building was István Széchenyi's grandson, also count Emil Széchenyi (1865-1907).
The villa also belonged to Andor Széchényi, in the 1940s it was a military officer's resort, then the Express Youth Resort.

For decades, Balatonföldvár has been a popular resting place for those looking for a quiet, family vacation. The town has preserved its special charm to this day, with its shady promenades and wonderful villas, it provides a real refuge and a real relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The water in the lake here is shallow and gradually deepens, making it an ideal vacation spot for families with small children.
Those who like active recreation and sports can also choose from many options, they can try surfing, sailing, fishing, volleyball, tennis, cycling, horse riding, and in winter they can go ice skating and dog sledding. In the hilly landscapes of the area, wonderful hiking trails await adventurous tourists.
The offer of the summer tourist season is complemented by colorful cultural and sports events (cult port, festivals, theater performances, concerts, street music, exhibitions, national and international sailing competitions). On the link below you will find the Balatonföldvár internet program booklet and a lot of other interesting information about the settlement.
Dog friendly beach nearby
Balatonföldvár is home to Balaton's shadiest dog-friendly spa.
There is plenty of place in the nearly 2,500 square meter area belonging to the spa, and the many trees provide shade for dogs tired of bathing. The water here gets deep relatively quickly, but thanks to the reeds near the bathing area, it remains shallow near the shore, so you can not only swim in Lake Balaton, but also can play with the ball, frisbee, or even chase. Both dogs and their owners can enjoy Lake Balaton in civilized conditions on site.
Free beaches
The part of the huge grassy area facing the street is mainly occupied by sandy sports courts - basketball, beach volleyball, and soccer fields.
In the other parts, you can find shade under large trees, but there is also plenty of open space for sunbathing. In recent years, three times a week, an animator has organized a program for both adults and children. There are included a variety of leisure activities, from handicrafts to games of skill and various sports competitions.
Since 2017, a 42-meter-long, 1,000-m2 grassy beach section was built, and from this season, new safes, deckchairs, and umbrellas serve the comfort of bathers.
The Viharsarok Sailing Center is located on the beach, where starting from the beginner to the advanced level, those looking for relaxation, recharging, good company and adventure are welcome with customized services, timetables and trained instructors.
